Bought a used boat today which did have a Power Pole which is now missing. Power Pole is gone but everything else is still in place. Has anyone else been up against this problem and what did you do to correct it. Can you buy just the pole without buying the entire setup?

Yes, you can get one as spare parts. Call JL Marine (maker of Power Pole). Tell them what happened and they can fix you up. They have legendary customer service.

Did it fall off or someone steal it?

Prior owner said as he was driving down the highway going home evidently the power pole slowly relaxed allowing it to lower making contact with the road. When he got home it was ground away up to half of the arm. He removed the arm from the side bracket on the engine and never replaced it.

Just my 2cents. If only the the rod was ground down and didn’t harm the rest of the PP have him give you the whole remaining part and order just the fiberglass rod ensemble and replace and attach the pole to the bracket and pump.

seems fishy on previous owner's part. I can't imagine him not knowing he could just replace the fiberglasss rod. I would contact him and ask for it as said above.

If you are talking about the spike itself those are easily replaceableand easy to get. Not expensive at all. If its the whole assembly there is no way they warranty that I bet and you will have to buy a new or used PowerPole. Call me crazy but if it was on there when I looked at boat and no arrangements were approved by you for it to be removedI would have expected seller to make it right via replacement or a reduction in price. He would be showing me the ground up Power Pole. If you accepted it as is then its on you.

Ground it up on the metal arm half way. In other words killed the arm and rod. This is a 2011 and happened several years ago. What I need is the arm and rod combo, All i have outside is the bracket which seem to be okay. If someone has a used bracket and rod that is what is needed. You never know a member could have the missing parts.

Highly recommend installing a disconnect switch so you can shut off power before traveling.

You betcha! ....and covers - aren't just for vanity. A mechanic pointed out that you stop a lot of the wear and tear from them flopping around when driving down the road. Think of all the hours you drive - quite often that's way more than the outboard hours with the boat on plane. I had to put bushing kits in two power poles on a used boat. He looked at them and said "that's road wear". They were really shot, luckily not yet worn beyond the thickness of the material.

I got home from fishing one day and found that the bottom bolt had fallen out of the bottom knuckle. I had a drift paddle installed and turned to the side. I don't know how long I had been dragging it but it scraped off one corner. Does not hamper its performance. That part of the paddle is never in the water.

Be safe,

He bought it knowing the PP is gone and is now wondering if he can just part the missing parts without having to pay for everything else. cheers
