When do blue gills start making beds on lakes? I was wanting to side scan for some beds to take the kids.

Depending the area you are fishing in. Right now in most Texas water bodies the Spawn is on. I have been seeing a lot of nest on the creeks and rivers here in South Central Texas.

I fish mostly Lewisville. Sometimes Ray Roberts. I have been watching side scan videos of bedding gills and want to try it out

Seeing plenty of them here in south central Texas. Got a feeling we will see several more spawns before November.

For what the experts say in this section Bluegill usually spawn three times a year. You should have several chances to find nest this year.

I scanned the northeast bank on Lewisville through two large coves. I did not see any beds. I'll try again in mid-may and see if there are any in Lewisville, or at least in the part of lake I fish.
