Was looking for a good starter boat. Mostly fishing alone and maybe with one other. These two boats seem very similar, same beam, length, and motor size. But there’s a big difference in price. Was looking for words of wisdom? Is the Pro 17 worth the extra money for the few differences it does have? Or is the Classic XL worth the saved money?

The two differences I notice are that the Pro 17 has a rod box and a built in gas tank. The Classic XL should fish about the same though for what you want to do. You will be limited with a 6 gal gas can though. Only you can decide if it is worth the extra money for a built in gas tank and a rod locker.

kinda weird, the xl has a 3 person rating with a 1025 max weight and the pro has a 4 person rating with only 980 max weight. besides the fuel tanks, one thing that stands out to me are the top gunwale rails, the pro has wider rails, the xl rails look flimsy and weak. not saying they are, just saying
