Been hopping around different areas in NTX. Curious what everyone’s seeing and thinking about the spawn this year. With all the cold spells and rain it seems like I’m still seeing an awful lot of bed fish. Even some ponds that should be done are holding them.

Seems like I heard a pro say it totally shuts down at 80 degree water temps.

Very lake dependent.
Shallow, grass and lily pad filled lake south of I20, I'd say it's 90% done
Deep, clear water lake north of 380, 35% done
.......and everything in between

Extremely lake dependent. I'd bet you will see some fish spawning into the first few weeks of June on some DFW lakes.

Agreed. I caught a 6 pounder off a bed at Fork last June looking right at her.

Caught one today on a bed and they were doing the deed when I saw them. Female scooted off and the male I caught after a while and he was 17.25"!! She had to be 6lbs+! Gene larew craw with some chartreuse added finally did the trick. Water temp was 69.5.

Saw several bed fish and caught a few today on Fork....Biggs just caught a DD pre-spawner on Lewisville today and I saw a big mama spawning in the Pier 121 tires in late May last year. We read books wayyyyy more than the fish do.

If you can't find em wind em.

Not on the north end of Rayburn...maybe the south end. All of my fish the last 3 weeks have been post spawn on Rayburn north of 147.
