Got out to Aquilla again 4-23-2020. Fish were really aggressive today. Got my limit by 12:30. Any dark color and chartreuse worked on a 1/4oz jig head. A few were in timber with the bulk being on brush. Anywhere from 8-16’. Water temp was 67 today. 1 fish was spawned out, 3 males and 21 females. A couple of the females were just about finished with the spawn, but most had a bunch of eggs left. To all the people that have talked to me out there Thanks for sharing the info you have. If you see me out swing by and I’ll help you with info if I can. Or just to say hi. It’s a pleasure meeting you all. If I don’t remember your name it’s probably because I didn’t hear you! LOL

Rod, Congrats on picking up a limit so quick. It took me till 2:30! I looked for you at every stop I made yesterday and never did see you! I spent an hour or so in the morning searching for new (to me) brush piles. When fish started schooling around me I decided that was enough and started crappie fishing. I'm pretty surprised I didn't run into you because I went to the same areas where we talked Monday. I decided to go yesterday because the wind was supposed to pretty light. What made you decide to go aside from cabin fever? Maybe we can talk some more Livescope next time we run onto each other!!!

That was me. Plastic color that works for me is a dark color, black, rootbeer or dark blue with chartreuse tail on 1/4oz plain jig head.

Seems like you have the magic touch out there. I’m gonna have to check out Aquilla one day. What’s it’s like out there? Lots of standing timber?

There are quite a few brush piles too. I downloaded the TPWD coordinates to my graph. I don’t think there is much left of them but there are brush piles close by to some. It is my new favorite lake. If you’ve read all my posts you’ll see I’ve caught fish on timber, brush and in open water. All in the same day. It doesn’t get much better than that.
