I've caught a fair amount of bass in some of the neighborhood lakes around here and was wondering what they feed on? If there are a healthy number of bass what other species can I expect to be in those waters? Is it a guarantee that there are other species too or could bass possibly survive in a lake reaching 2+ lbs feeding on insects...? I might try targeting some of those smaller species for fun too!

Random side note, fishing has definitely become my favorite quarantine hobby! Truly unexpected but, I'm thankful for all the wisdom and knowledge of this community!

They eat Biffle Bugs onna 4/0 Trokar!

Oh. Crappie, bluegill, shad, frogs, snakes, baby ducks, birds, other bass. Did I miss anything?

They are mostly the Apex predator in a lake and pond.

turtles, and where they are present: baby alligators.

Anything they can get into their mouths, sometimes, it is too large and they die.

I had about a 2-3 pound bass attack my golf ball sized red/white bobber once while bream fishing on a city pond,...like a top water bait, went about 20 feet, jumped and spit the bobber,....scared the carp outta me !!

If there's bass there's pirtch and catfish in texas waters at least.

If they got up to 100 lbs humans wouldnt be able to go swimming!
