Brand new to Power Pole ownership so the threads like the one below regarding dual pumps are very helpful. That said, I have relatively new dual PowerPole II's. All is working great for now BUT in the future, how do I raise a PowerPole if it is engaged and the remotes don't work? Or if ONE raises and the other doesn't? And is it wise to keep bungee cords (or similar) in the boat/truck just in case I have to manually tie the poles in an upright position before driving home? Any other tips to maintaining PP's would be greatly appreciated!!

I think you literally have to get in the water and pull them back up! And yes having some sort of bungie strap/cord to keep it back up would be great. Other than that I'm not sure but someone else will explain it better!

Loosen the fitting to relieve pump pressure, rope poles and pull to upright position, tie poles up, continue fishing. While it is a PITA, it should not take all that long and shouldn't end your day.

Thanks Duck Hunter, great tips. Rookie question here-what does the pressure fitting look like? Assuming it's ON the pump itself?

This.

Had to do this in the middle of a T couple years ago. I have a dock rope in my boat I used to rope it with and then tie it back up. Best to put each pole on a separate breaker so you can cut power to them while traveling. But in this case it helped also as I cut that breaker off and used the other one the rest of the day. I also use velcro straps to keep them closed while driving down the road.

Send me your address and I'll send you a couple as I bought a pack of 24 on amazon for like $10 and I'll never use all of them.

Follow where the hose goes into the pump. Loosen the brass nut, this will most likely leak some fluid but will relieve the pressure allowing you to manually lift the PP to be tied up.

had this happen to me a couple years ago. I did not have any tools to loosen the fitting and had to get in the water and push the pole up. It was really hard to do and did not help that it was February.

Just had this last week. One came up and the other was stuck down with nothing but bubbles shooting out when I hit the button. Luckily I had someone in the boat that could step on the deck button at the front of the boat (remote doesn't work) while I pulled from the back deck. Word of caution, make sure to get your fingers out of the way before it is all the way up. It hurts really, really, really bad. Got it loaded and pulled the drain plug and nothing but hydraulic fluid is coming out. Found a hole in the hose that emptied the whole pump reservoir in the battery compartment. I had heard about power pole's excellent customer service and it's no joke. Make sure you have the Serial # of the poles and they will Fedex replacement hoses with ferrules and a quart of hydraulic fluid free of charge.

I started keeping a pack of giant industrial strength zip ties in the boat in case this ever happens. A lot more convenient than using rope. Plus they can really come in handy in general.

Thats my money fish

The first thing to do is to use the actual up button on the pump! I had it happen two weeks ago and this cleared the error

This is the first step. Most of the time it is a bad Bluetooth connection or switch that has gone out.

I too carry the industrial zipties in my boat because they are great for a lot of different temporary fixes.

The best part of an unfortunate situation is PowerPole has some of the absolute best customer service in all of fishing therefore they usually step up and rectify any issues you might have or whatever steps/means you have to take to get back to the launch or to make it home.

This is actually my second or third step. wink

Usually my first step is move the boat forward some (TM or Outboard) to see if relieved pressure on the PP will get it to let loose. Thus ensuring it isn't just wedged down in something.

This happened to a buddy of mine a couple of years ago in the dead of winter, right before dark. He called his Ranger dealer, and they told him to just cut the hydraulic line, and it would pull up. He called me, and I called the Triton rep, and he said, no do not mess with the hydraulic lines, because it's a pain to refill and bleed the lines. He told us to tie a rope on the pole and simply pull it up. I was in my boat, so I tied the rope to the Power Pole from my boat, then got in the boat with him. It took some strength, but after it initially broke loose it was easy to pull up.

Do not mess with the hydraulic lines; just pull it up.

Thanks everyone for their feedback. New enough to this I didn't realize there was an "up" button on the pump. Told my wife all the guys on the forum had their wives in the water pushing while they pulled from the boat so she knows what to expect! I will also find a wrench that fits the pressure valve and industrial zip ties to keep in the toolbox on the boat.

Can you just start the big motor and pop the throttle forward a couple of feet? The poles are flexible and likely will pull out a bit. I haven't had to do it so I don't know. And I've broken stuff before so I guess I can experiment and if I break the pole, I'll get a new one.
