Can someone tell me the best crappie pole and reel, also best line to use. I want to try to get into this and will be wanting to jig around trees

I sure do like my G-Rod and my ACC Crappie Stix. I like a 10’ pole. If you’re using Livescope and the fish are spooky, a pole longer than 10’ is a plus. A shorter rod would be better for fishing under bridges with low clearance and for dock shooting. I use Pflueger President reels.

I use 20 pound test braided line with a 8 or 10 pound test fluorocarbon leader.

We use 8’ poles these days. As for line I went down to 4 pound test for a test. Went to 8 pound after that, though one or two might be 6 pound. Our reels are the underslung closed face reels with the trigger. Simple and easy to use. Some are Diawa and some are Pflueger. I can’t say that one is better than the other. Not what you’d call fancy or high dollar reels, but they work fine for the task.

The BiL, who crappie fishes every day uses some cheap baitcasters on 10 foot poles. I tried spinning reels for a bit, but the bail is a bother.

B'n'M Bucks Graphite jig rod paired with a baitcaster or spinning reel and using stren clear blue flourescent 6-10 # line. If fishing less than pole length use a B'n'M Bucks mini reel. Good luck and good fishing!

I used to fish with the 10' BnM Sams Super Sensitive rods, but switched over to 8' Pro Angler light action rods with the little Lew"s Wally Marshall baitcast reels. I just like the balance and feel of that combination. For line I like 20# Suffix 832 or 8# Suffix Siege in the neon tangerine color depending on just how thick the structure is I'm fishing.There are a thousand great combinations, but this is what works for me.
