Fayette County Lake ( home away from home) is back open ! Took a trip up there yesterday and had an awesome day. Water temp was 75-80 degrees depending on location & the lake is currently at full pool. The lake was very crowded,(the word got out fast) but both ramps now open, so launching is not an issue. Fished from 7:30 to 6:00. Weather was nice...a little foggy early & pretty windy by afternoon. Ended up with 114 fish total. Around 20 bass, 10 red ear, and the rest bluegill, coppernose & hybrid mixes. Used the counter this time instead of guessing. All fish caught on Gulp Alive minnows & ultra lite set ups. Also, all fish released. Attached is a 14 minute video of my adventures if interested...Fayette 4-21-2020

Thanks all for the replies...

Wug...Have not caught a Rio all year...I believe they still are a little deeper at this point.

Laker...I don't know what it is about those Gulp Alives...If it's just that lake they are so good on or what. Had plans to try them on Dunlap b4 its demise, but never got the chance. I used 2 full jars on this trip & have to get some more on order. Had planned on buying some worms the day b4 the trip, but the place I buy them was sold out...forcing me to use the Gulps all day. Sometimes you are just forced into success by the circumstance...

Gitter...The fishing fever is a full time thing with me ninja

My wife and I went to Fayette today....50 or so bluegill 3 bass. Gulp Alive in chartreuse and white was the ticket. Got there about 7:15 and drove over to the Vogey "secret spot"... it took a little time to get into them and it was on. Biggest Bluegill I have ever caught. Pete Dodge was nearby with a guide trip and was putting a ton of fish into the boat for his party, Wind cranked up around 11 AM and whitecaps all over the lake. We left them around noon and headed back to Oak Thicket getting wet most of the way. Thank you Steve for all of your help on rigging and baits! We played with the GoPro and will see how the video turns out. Fabulous day on the water and a lot more fun than scratching out bass on wind blown lake...all fish were released to make someone else a great day.

Wug...Can't wait to see your video and thanks for the catch & release ! I do keep fish to eat, but can generally keep my freezer stocked with the ones that swallow the hook pretty deep & would probably die anyway...Hope to see you out there sometime...

I was over at WalMart today getting some things and checked out the fishing section looking for
some Gulp Alive Minnows. They didn't have them. But they had some Gulp Nightcrawlers.
I got some and am going to try them on my next outing. They are not immersed in liquid like
the minnows so I don't know if they are the same technology ?
