I'm assuming this has been discussed plenty, but I wanted to see if any of y'all have any experience jumping on any local to Dallas golf course ponds. Any tips? Thank you!

Make sure you are not trespassing! Thats the problem. Chances are if youre not golfing your likely not welcomed there and likely are trespassing. Just ask maybe after hours they will allow it? I know I have carried a rod with me when golfing and made a few casts and no one minds that but just walking on over and getting your fish on is not probably a good idea.

I snuck into golf courses to fish back in the 80's, always at night. We also actually golfed there, occasionally. I guess they were onto us, because one day one of the greens keeps whispered to us, "I hope y'all aren't eating the fish out of those ponds.". We hadn't been, even though it was mostly nice sized catfish. Whatever they used to keep the greens so green we knew made it's way into the water hazards. It was against the rules of course, but just the three of us and we never left anything behind, so I guess they kinda' "turned a blind eye". Again, though, this was some 30+ years ago.

with all the liability risk anymore they don't want you on the property unless you are playing golf . if they wanted folks to come fishing on any private property there would be signs up welcoming fishermen.

Exactly on the liability issue. I was at a pond about 4-5 years ago in the am with my fly rod. Had just landed a 4 pound bass when the first group came around on number 10. They saw me and next thing I know, here comes a golf cart. I was so far away from being in play not even the worst golfer could hit me. Pro drove up and made me leave. Told him I was a Arlington resident and he said it was 100% a liability issue since the course was owned by the city. If it was his call, I could keep on fishing.
It is what it is.

I would not fish golf course ponds if the property provides "no trespassing" notice, such as a fence or signs. In Texas you can be charged with a criminal trespass misdemeanor and golf courses have been know to take action on criminal trespass because of liability. If they let you fish and you get hit with a ball and hurt they are liable. You probably can talk you way out of a violation the first time, but is it worth the chance? Here are the regulations from the Texas Parks and Wildlife website:
Section 30.05, Texas Penal Code, provides that a person commits an offense if the person enters or remains on property of another without effective consent, and the person: •had notice that the entry was forbidden, or •received notice to depart, but failed to do so.
"Notice" means: an oral or written communication by the owner or someone with apparent authority to act for the owner; or fencing or other enclosure obviously designed to exclude intruders or to contain livestock; or a sign or signs posted on the property reasonably likely to come to the attention of intruders, indicating that entry is forbidden; or the placement of identifying purple paint marks on trees or posts on the property. If purple paint is used, then the purple paint must be vertical lines of not less than eight inches in length and not less than one inch in width; placed so that the bottom of the mark is not less than three feet from the ground or more than five feet from the ground; and placed at locations that are readily visible to any person approaching the property and no more than: 100 feet apart on forest land or 1,000 feet apart on land other than forest land.
Additionally, the visible presence on the property of a crop grown for human consumption that is under cultivation, in the process of being harvested, or marketable if harvested at the time of entry is considered "notice" that entry is forbidden.

There was a golf course off 205 in Rockwall that would allow fishing during the spawn . As long as you weren't leaving trash laying around. It has been years since I have been there. They may not allow it now

I think all of us "with gray hair" have fished golf course ponds and, as noted above, "never talked about it". None the less, is there now a business model for courses to allow fishing? Certain hours, restricted locations maybe. Rainy weather? I know where I live I would pay a bunch to hit a restricted body of water close to my home. All of the courses around me could be bank fished given shape and depth.

Most are closed on Mondays for maintenance. Ask for that day.

I use to fish the Horseshoe Bay ponds as a kid. Never had an issue. Caught my personal best LMB @ 12.7 lbs. I heard the fishing isn't near what it use to be.

About 15 years ago i worked at lb houston golf course. Ponds were great with plastic worms. Good bass fishing overall. Near the cart barn was a creek or whatever and provided goot bank fishing off the bottom. However the ponds were a absolute homerun. I would fish at work and sometimes afterwards. This was during the transition period where the cit was looking for a head pro to replace leonard jones. I seriously doubt they would allow anyone to go on propert to fish. Nightime wouldn't be an issue to sneak on if you could get dropped off.
I only lie when I tell the truth.

The first time getting caught fishing a golf course management asks you to leave. 2nd time being caught is a no trespass warning from DPD and that lasts for 6 months. I’m at a point now that I don’t run too fast for long periods. Dark clothing, long sleeves and pants, mosquito spray. Ninja style!!! Warning!!!! Beware of the snakes! Snakes only have one predator on the golf course and that’s a lawnmower!

They have a pond in between the 9th hole and driving range that they you fish if youre accompanied by someone under the age of 18(or 16 cannot remember). Had the same thought and would be a cool idea.
