Ok, I have a new to me boat and I have noticed that my Ultrex is hard to maneuver. It turns but I really have to push down on the foot pedal. Is this normal? I have had other trolling motors and would not have work this hard.

No it should not be hard. Look underneath it. I have read about this issue others have had but don't recall whether it was an adjustment knob, a spring or an obstruction that caused it. Suppose to be a simple fix. Might try the search feature for it.

Hard steering could be cable wear depending on the age of the motor. That was an issue a couple of years ago. New cables fix that.

Could be a failing circuit board.

There is a tension screw under the pedal.

If all is as it should be, you should be able to steer your motor with your fingers. It has electric power steering.

It possible could be the steering sensor that is messing up. I'm a warranty center for Minn Kota in Dallas so give me a call at 214-630-8161 and I will help you out as much as possible. The name of the warranty center is Southwest Marine Electronics.
