Would someone please give me a hint on what lakes around Waco would be good for Bream and related fish. The wife loves fishing for them, and I need to know where to find them. I have plenty in my pond, but want other options.

I have seen several post here in the Bluegill Section years ago about the Brazos River in the Waco area being a good place to catch nice Bluegill. Lake Waco might also be a good place. I would check with fishing guides in your area and get some advice from them. On the other hand I do not know very many guides who target Bluegill. The poster who posted the Bluegill post went by the "Waco Kid"! He caught some BIG Bluegill off of the Brazos.

Whitney has good bluegill if that’s not too far.

We would normally fish the Navasota River near Fort Parker State Park, if we aren’t fishing our pond. On good days the wife and I can catch a bunch of smallish bream along the bank where it’s rocky. Been doing it for years, and it’s a good place to take a boat load of grandkids. They fish, while I focus on driving and getting their jigs out of the tree limbs. So, it keeps everyone busy, and the grandkids can talk trash about who caught the fewest fish (trash talking must be a genetic thing, because even little kids can get right into it). But, when I want just the wife and I to bream fish, I’d like to try other places. And, simply put, the wife is happy when she is catching fish, so my job is to find where the fish are. That’s why it’s a big help for you guys to give me info on where to go. We are about 40 miles from Lake Waco. 15 miles from Limestone. 20 miles from Lake Mexia.

I’m slowly finding good spots for crappie on Limestone, but have never caught a Bream/Bluegill there. That might be because I haven’t tried. The lake may be swarming with Bream and I wouldn’t know it. So if somebody has bream info for Limestone, I’m all ears.
