Taking my cover off getting ready to take my Son in Law out for the afternoon the other day. I unclip the front buckle and hear and feel a little something drop down by my foot. The little something was this good sized rat snake!!!! I am not too afraid of snakes but this one startled me into doing a little jig grin Once I stopped dancing and he got his wits about him from the fall, he goes to climbing the tounge of my trailer and trying to get wound up inside my truck bumper. All I had was a second and a snake tail to grab so I grabbed and pulled until he turned loose at which point I slung him into the yard eek I totally forgot about the pistol in the front seat of my truck and hustled in the house and grabbed a .22 six shooter that I keep loaded for such occasions. When I got back out it took me a second to find him and by then he was part way up the tree. I shot once or twice getting close before I finally put one in the sweet spot and turned him into a good snake banana I know rat snake is a good snake but not when he makes me dance like that! One friend of mine summed it up pretty good when he said "I would have bought a new truck before I grabbed that snakes tail" grin

I completely understand and am not hating on you at all...( I would've shot him if he was at my feet) but I would've let him go on his way at that point. But I understand.

I just don't shoot harmless snakes. Now rattlers and copperheads are dispatched quickly.

Man, that thing has a big square head. I would not have taken time to go to the books for the markings on that snake. Thanks for sharing.

And now the question is........ why was he in the boat?
He could have been saving you money by keeping mice out of your wiring...been there done that, if rather jave the snake than mice.

That is the question I ask my wife about her chicken coup, which do you hate worse , snakes or rats. If you look the rat snake had eaten a good sized something recently. Like I said, not too afraid of snakes but I prefer they stay in the woods. Little dog got copperhead bit twice last year.

Unless I was raising chickens, I’d rather have the snake than the rodents.

That snake won’t cause you any issues on the water. Rats/mice on the other hand........
