Just heard a rumor that state parks may be opening on Monday with some restrictions.

Highlights from Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s press conference today at 12pm 4/17/2020:

Re-opening Texas State Parks on Monday 4/20/2020, visitors must wear PPE or masks and observe social distancing.
Gatherings larger than 5 are prohibited.

Do you have to wear a mask out on the water?

First of all, I want to get back on Lake Bastrop. I called LCRA and asked what their plans are. The very nice lady I spoke to said that they have not had any new directives yet. I do not think that North/South Shore is considered a state park. I personally do not understand why they closed in the first place. I think it was peer pressure.

^^^^You would be correct^^^^

Bastrop is part of the LCRA Managed Park systems and only North Shore Park will reopen for boat launching only on 4/22/2020.

I wonder about Goose Island State Park in Lamar? It's in Aransas County, in which all parks, beaches and boat ramps are closed. Maybe I should call them Monday morning and see if they are planning to open. ............IslandJim.............

You're right, Debra. I wonder why they are not opening either Oak Thicket or Park Prairie on FCL?

The following LCRA-managed parks will reopen on Wednesday, April 22, for day use only:

Altair boat ramp
Camp Creek Park
Cedar Point Recreation Area
Gloster Bend Recreation Area
Hollywood Bottom Park
Highway 521 River Park
Lake Bastrop North Shore Park
Matagorda Bay Nature Park (boat ramp only)
Narrows Recreation Area
Plum Park on the Colorado

Beginning April 22, these parks will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with no camping or overnight stays allowed. Boat ramps at these parks will be open, but visitor centers and camp stores will be closed.

To limit the spread of COVID-19, all visitors must wear face coverings while in the parks, and groups are required to be limited to no more than five people. Visitors should practice social distancing at the parks and must maintain at least a six-foot distance from people not in their parties.

All other LCRA-managed parks remain closed until further notice.

Fayette County Res. parks are managed by an independent vendor that leases the parks. They will make their own decision as to when to open.

CBSP opened back up today. But you need a reservation to get in.

Just FYI

PB flathead 34.5 lbs - I know it's small but it was still the record for Lake Travis when I caught it!
PB Blue 58.5 lbs jugline 43.5 lbs on R&R which was the other Lake Travis record when caught.
