I have caught small ones in the south San Gabriel river in Georgetown. Other rivers that contain them are the San Marcos, Guadalupe, San Antonio, and Colorado rivers. There are Rio experts on this site. And I am not one of them lol.

I have caught nice Rios from Georgetown (San Gabriel River) all the way to Brackettville TX.( Nueces and W. Nueces Rivers.) Creeks with good current, Rivers, and Lakes in these areas hold good numbers of Rios. Guadalupe River, Colorado River, Llano River, San Marcus River, etc are some good bodies of water that hold some nice Rios. Good luck and let us know how you do!

I've caught them in Brushy Creek and Lake Travis.

Thank you all for the replies. I live in Fort Worth and willing to travel as south as San Antonio. Several options provided within that range. Thank you all again!

I'll second Brushy Creek in Roundrock, probably one of the easiest bodies of water to access coming from DFW area. This creek also has been big ones and they are easy to find, they look like little sheepshead sitting in the clear water. They are a real hoot on the fly or on super ultralight gear.
I just started learning them last year. Think small when targeting them they have little mouths.

The only thing I know about Rios is what I have been reading in the Bluegill Section. They are warm water fish. You can find them from Georgetown all the way to Laredo.

The smaller ones I imagine would be better for aquarium stuff and they tend to be more colorful in my opinion. The blue spots positively glow on the little guys. The stripes also seem to be more well defined. On a side note this guy was caught on one my poor imitations of Bankers favorite bait.

Are they good to eat? I've never heard anyone mention them as table fare.
Biden famously said in the New York Observer, โI mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, thatโs a storybook, man.โ
