I have a W W Griggs green canvas tube but I know absolutely nothing about it. I assumed ( I know ) that there would be an inner tube inside, nope, there are 2 small silver bags I assume again that might go in a side pocket but surely not hold up my substantial girth. I bought waders to get in on spawning crappie and missed the action but still would like to get the tube " running " so to speak. Any and all help appreciated. . Oh just bought a fly combo and had to learn all new stuff for that too.

Yes there is a inter liner. The small ones are for the back rest. If It's a round one you can use a truck tire inner tube
if It's the U shaped type try Amazon.

thx lamar. Looks u shaped but after looking at it a few times I still cant figure where / how to put another tube in the tube. Old and dumb but still thought I had enough smarts to do this.Maybe I dont. .

OK on the u shape, I have a u shaped Caddis. There is a zipper a the back of the outer shell .
the u shaped bladder you stuff that part into the shell then air it up. IF it's like the Caddist. good luck

thx but now have a leak. will try to patch and find a home for the tube Trying to get a yak so I can get rid of the tube. just not my luck

You can fix the leak with Grarilla tape spelling ????? . Wish you luck.

finally got bladdder out of tube. Could not here of feel and escaping air so I used soapy water ( old school ) and saw a few small bubbles on valve. I put some pipe tape on it and blew it up .See if it holds til tomorrow. Then I need some flippers and will give it a go. Thx for all help

If you are having issues with leaks then it is time to get a new tube. They only last about 5 years and the fabric gets dry rot and the bladders start to go. You can pick up a new tube for what it takes to get an old one fixed up. I love fishing out of a float tube.

My experience is that a Canvas body, will not last very long unless the bladders are removed and the canvas is dried quickly with something like a fan, after every use. Otherwise tiny Pockets of water will remain in the creases of the bladders which will cause mildew and dry rot, especially with natural Fabrics like cotton. Cotton might last longer if the fibers are coated or treated with mildew resistance.

I think length of tube life depends on the fabric and bladder material as well as the regimen of the user. Synthetic fabrics like nylon are more resistant, for example my frequently used nylon Creek company float tubes which are going on 8 and 9 years. I go tubing an average of once a week year around, so I keep backup tubes to use while doing maintenance or repairs on others. The backups get less use and are all good as new, even though they have been stored over many years.
