Hi TFF'ers, I just wanted to let every know that I had a chance to visit the Nueces River Retreat over the last week. My family and I stayed from Tuesday - Saturday. First off I wanted to thank Tim and Ashley (the manager) for being so accommodating on their end, initially we were only going to stay from Thursday - Saturday but a shutdown at work allowed me to get down there a couple days earlier with my dad. Within the first few hours of checking in on Tuesday we were down on the dock fishing... we were able to pull up a cat to start off with and ended off the first night with a few more bites and a beautiful sunset and moonrise... Wednesday we got up for sunrise and started fishing with night crawlers and were able to land a pretty good sized gar on some cut bait we had thrown out. We had never caught one before so it was pretty exciting at the time. Thursday morning my brother finally came down and we did some more dock fishing throughout the day... didn't catch anything but we still had an awesome time. Thursday night was when that storm rolled through so we weren't able to stay and fish all night and our time was cut short. Friday came and we got out there early Friday morning and were able to land another cat and had another gar just by the dock before it let go. Friday night we were able to catch a couple of black drum both undersized. Here are some of the pictures that I took while down there. We are definitely going back and I encourage anyone else wanting to get way during this time to give this place a try because it was well worth it!

Thanks for the review. Glad you had a great time. That water was not even very good. Recent rains I'm sure slowed the fishing way down. You'll do much better next time.

PB flathead 34.5 lbs - I know it's small but it was still the record for Lake Travis when I caught it!
PB Blue 58.5 lbs jugline 43.5 lbs on R&R which was the other Lake Travis record when caught.
