3-5" grubs on an open ball head jig. Do you bounce it along the bottom or swim it. What about favorite
colors. Trying to get back in an old school technique.

I use the 2" size on a ball head jig with a spinner like a beetle spin, white and chartreuse are my go to colors, with white being the one I use the most often. Mainly I use them this way at creeks for sandbass. But have fished them on the big lakes and caught nice bass on them, usually around the edges of shallow grass like hay grass.

That's my go to technique right now. I use a 5" grub on a 3/16oz jig head. Slow roll and/or burn it, depending on how active they are.

Watermelon or green pumpkin depending on water clarity.

I have one tied on and have tossed it about 5 times with a fish on the first cast only so far. a part of me is convinced a new pb or trip best comes on that finesse type bait, but my mind cant figure out how they would find it.. Im having larger fish on a 15 inch worm and a 8 inch swim bait, but decent fish on a 6 inch swim bait. 6,12 best today. I have it on a tungsten 3/16 shakey head, its a 2 inch grub from cnc custom baits.

Fished with this older Gentleman on Amistad in the 80's. He used a Ball Head in White with large yellow Glass Eyes/Black Dot pupil. He had a pile of them in one corner of his boat. Probably over 100. He said that when any of the paint came off they stopped hitting it. His grub that he poured was a 3.5 in Dark Watermelon Seed. That is all he threw. He caught 20 that day and I caught 2. Go figure.
