No stimilus yet but I had my first unemployment check. It was normal unemployment plus 600 dollars from the fed govt minus income tax. Even with taxes it made a seriously nice check. And thats every 2 weeks until this mess is over.

That's great! Several of my clients are still waiting for theirs. Tough time for a lot of people.

That’s great! I’m sure that extra $600 will come in handy. Got mine and my wife’s $1,200 direct deposited in our savings account this morning. Thank you President Trump.

I’d probably take home more money being unemployed. One good thing about my career choice is it’s economy proof!

The govt said they would auto add the 600 to those laid off due to the virus. I applied as normal and got the proceedures as normal. Everything was normal unemployment as if the virus never happened. And the govt tacked on 600 dollars to my 2 week claim.

\ feds are just tacking it on to state checks, don't have to do anything is what I understand. This is really priming the system for fraud. My wife's business has had employees who QUIT (not laid off or fired) for whatever reason prior to any business or personal impact from the virus at all. Those people are now applying for unemployment with the attraction of getting the extra $ automatically. She hasn't laid anyone off, and has been operating, though not at normal levels. One gal brought in a doctor's note and said she can't work any longer "due to medical reasons." The note said she has allergies, and is allergic to the drug in the "Z-pak". Wife asked "what am I supposed to do with this?" to which the gal replied "I don't know". That employee has now filed for unemployment. My wife has to appeal each and every one of these fraudulent claims, and then put in the effort to fight to have them denied. If she doesn't, the state will approve them and her unemployment tax increase could tank her business. I don't think I can fathom the level of outright fraud such as this that is happening, based on my observations. These people are members of a large group that prefers to suck on the government teat vs. work for honest wages. They, with our all-too-eager-to-help government, will cause the failure of some businesses because of this; some companies won't have the manpower to fight it, and will become casualties. We're OK with legitimate claims, and wish that all the program dollars went where truly needed. But, 100% of what she has dealt with is pure fraud that is going to cost all of us a lot of money in the end.

I personally don't think anyone should take home more on unemployment than they took home from their job. If it's equal to what you made, cool. But I think those cases are the exception.

I think there is a misconception and that people think they can quit and draw unemployment. if they check that they quit on their application they will be denied. If they lie they have filed a false application and will be denied. But you're right a representative from the business would have to testify to an arbiter. I've done it many times it's a tremendous pain in the [censored]. 90% of the time the person filing does not show up. But you still have to prepare as if they're going to and it's a tremendous time drain. Bad situation. Freaking scum bags.
