I have a Humminbird Helix 12 gen 2. Is there a maximum size of SD card I can use in it to save my waypoints? I put an 8gb card in it that I already had and I formatted the card but when I put in in the helix and try to save the waypoints to it nothing saves to the card?

The Helix saves waypoints to the unit, not the card. The largest card that can be used in a Helix is a 32 gig. You can enter the waypoint and routes page of the unit and download the waypoints to the card to be used on another unit or to enter them into the Humminbird PC program.

The Waypoint Library is copied to a memory card by EXPORTING the data. It puts the data on the card in a MATRIX folder. HumminbirdPC and another Helix or discontinued number series unit will load that data directly from that folder. At no time does the unit save waypoints to a memory card or does it read waypoints from a memory card.

Ok I guess I am using the wrong terminology but what I am doing is going into my unit and selecting the “select all and” then I select “export” but no data is transferring over to my SD card. I am trying to transfer my data from my Helix 12 to a Helix 9 so I have the waypoints and tracks on both units.

I am trying to transfer my data from my Helix 12 to a Helix 9 so I have the waypoints and tracks on both units. Reasons that doesn't happen normally, the memory card is locked, the card memory size is too small for the amount of data, there is already too much memory on the card used to handle the additional files, or the card is too large (max 32 GB). Abnormally, the unit card reader is faulty. Try the other one.
