I am looking to get my first fish finder for my kayak. Never used one before. Looking to keep it under $200. Think I have it narrowed down to the Garmin Stiker plus 4cv. Looking for something to get me started and fairly easy to operate. Sitting at home watching YouTube has helped.

Was also looking at the Lowrance hook2 4x gps, but the reviews on academy aren’t very good.



Is there one I haven’t seen I should look into? Could you recommend a better one?

I would think about spending a little more money and getting a larger screen.
They really help identifying fish and structure and also make having more than one view active realistic such as map and sonar or downscan and sonar.
I would go with a unit that can chart maps and waypoints. you can save some money here by not going with the upgraded map packages but using the maps from the free social mapping site genesismaps.com.
The maps may not cover the whole lake but usually cover those areas we can easily get to in our kayaks. Get on their site and see what they have in your area.
Also, if your unit allows you to log sonar, you can send the logs to genesismaps and have a map with your latest updated in a couple of days.
Side scan allows you to see out to the sides of your kayak and can save you a lot of time paddling back and forth looking for structure and fish.
Garmin, Hummingbird and Lowrance all have good units that will allow you to have much more information than you have today.
