I would say the best tournament anglers in Texas are the ones that have won BASS AOY's. Winning a Classic is epic but that is one event. The guys that have done it on the Elite Tour for years will tell you that their respect goes to the man that wins AOY. I know Clunn & Nixon no longer live in TX but thats where they came from.

Larry Nixon
Jay Yelas
There are lots of great anglers from TX but you asked for the Best. IMO these are them. Clark Wendlandt has 3 FLW AOY''s I think Yes I should have included him. I haven't followed FLW. Nothing against them just haven't followed. And yes Jay Yelas is from Oregon but he lives in TX now and it fit my argument

David Wharton should be on everyone's list. It's very regional in Texas though. Terry Oldham and Mike Hawkes were almost unbeatable back in the day in the south. Overall for national and local combined success Faircloth would be hard to overlook.

I had Clunn at top of my list but good to see lots of other names in the mix as well. Not many club level guys represented though. I may not have been clear with my post.

For Rayburn and Toledo have to mention Mike Metcalf. Nobody won more while I was growing up than him. From the mid 90's when I lived in Jasper up until about mid 2000's. When i fished Redman in the late 80' early 90's.
