WATER LEVEL is 1076.86 Wed, April 8, 2020 9:15:00 AM
Level is 40.14 feet below full pool of 1,117.00
Dropped .03 from yesterday
Water Temp low 60s

AMISTAD is OPEN..and hopefully it stays that way. Ramp photos are Diablo this morning.

The past week has been fun fishing regardless of the minor cold front and fog a few days ago. Yesterday it was 90 degrees and the fish are happy campers. All phases of the spawn are in full swing. The Full Moon for April was yesterday so if youre a believer in the Moon Spawn you know what that means.
Unfortunately the water started dropping again yesterday. The chart below shows we started dropping much earlier this year. How low will it go is a concern. Diablo ramp is in good shape. Black Brush ramp is closed. A bit more and Airforce will be one lane...The outside grass line in most pockets/coves is around the 8-10ft mark however I found one area that has grass much deeper. Hopefully thats the trend. Right now Im catching fish from topwater to 60ft. The shallow fish are most aggressive on Tx rigs, square bills, chatterbaits, jerkbaits, and more but the deep fish have been a bit more selective. Even the stripers seem sluggish but drop the right bait in their face and they snap. One area in particular the graph is lit up with bait balls and every species in the lake. While using Spot Lock and sitting in 50-60ft we caught largemouth, smallmouth, catfish, and stripers. Whoever invented Spot Lock should receive a Gold Star. Its a guides best friend. The weather forecast looks great. Call or text if youre interested in a guide trip. (830) 768-3648.. www.amistadbass.com

Nice fish! I'm assuming the lake will remain open?

Hope the goats on the lake survived that. I enjoy watching them as they roam and feed as I am enjoying the lake.

Hope so. It was ugly. Check out this lightning tracker that crossed the lake.

Keeping fingers and toes crossed it stays open. Some are some arent. Falcons public and private ramps are closed.

Hopefully that changes soon. Id like the government to clarify the word “private”. A guy told me he owns land on the river below Amistad. He is allowed to fish off his bank but he can not launch a boat of any size. Recently 3 guys posted pictures fishing the Rio. Where they launched no one knows.
