Honestly at first I was excited. They sent an email saying they were putting distancing plans in place ect. But after I slept on it a night I realized The threat of getting sick is not going to come from the tournament anglers or from being on the lake. We will all be over 6 feet apart from each other in the boat and in the weigh in line. The problem I think we’re doing this while we are still under quarantine orders is it’s making 40, 50, or 60 teams have to go out and interact in the world. I think that may be where Gordon is missing the picture. It’s not the tournament or his event that poses a risk. It’s stopping to get gas on the way there, get ice, maybe somebody hasn’t finished in the last month and a half and needs to go get some fishing line and a couple packages of flukes, Stops to gas up and get breakfast at the little gas station at log cabin and runs into somebody that sick, who knows. Then if they do catch something they won’t know from that day that they have it and then they can bring it back home to their families and so on and so forth. So I don’t know what to think. And yes I agree the obvious answer is if you don’t want to do it stay at home, but how many people are going to do that?? Seems like that’s the problem now and why they keep extending the stay in place.

I've liked very few of Gordon's decisions over the years. This one I like.

What’s the difference in all that stuff you wrote and a regular trip to the grocery store after work? Or trip to grab a 12pack at the 7-11?

Sounds like you better stay at home. What your neighbor does should be up to your neighbor.

I have always thought that 100%!!!! Unless there’s is a pandemic and it affects other people. Look I get it dude. Again I’m on the fence. Just want to see how other people feel, and what is ultimately the RIGHT thing to do.

You been to home depot lately. Nobody is sitting in their house. Sam's is a [censored] show, walmart to same, HEB the same, liquor stores packed full.

It’s a bad idea... how many of the competing trails are going to call this in to the state? I’d sure hate to be the person that was in charge of organizing a gathering that’s in direct violation of the governors order. I get it, I wanna fish tournaments too.. this is the kind of BS that will cause all our lakes to be closed so that none of us can fish at all so a few of y’all can get your competition fix.

You make good points and I don’t totally disagree but I think it’s not such a bad idea as long as things keep improving. If it’s mid to late May I think people will be getting back to work or should be anyways. If you look at the #’s less than 1/25 of 1% have been diagnosed with the virus and if you double it for those who never knew they had it, your still well under 1% of people in Texas having it. Probably half or more have already recovered and no long contagious. I don’t fish Media but I hope our club holds our May tournament. We usually fish last Sat of the month.

Exactly Buda. I see that pint of view also. I want to ignore it and say this all bs, because everyone is going to Home Depot and Walmart, but are they the ones being careless? And Is the tournament against the governors orders? Also seems like there’s a lot of justification from people wanting to fish it. Like why does everyone get to go to stores, and liquor stores, ect... just a weird deal all together I think. Interesting takes from both sides...

LMAO! A minute after I posted the above I received a text from someone saying they are calling this in to the State of TX Monday morning to report an organized gathering of more than 10 people. Good luck.

Any opportunity to spread contagion should be avoided. But people are selfish and ignorant. So the pandemic will continue to spread. It’s how we roll, yo.
