Does it get hot enough to blacken fish? Will they stick too bad? My cast iron for fish needs to be resurfaced and seasoned so I need another option

I wouldn't think so.

I've only Blackened a few times, and it seems to do it right, it takes a screeming hot surface.

Do you have anything flat that you can put over the outdoor grill? Done right, Blackening produces a lot of smoke.

From my experience.

I'm glad there are wine drinkers in this world ..... it saves more beer for the rest of us.

No it won’t get hot enough. Clean up and season your skillet. What’s stopping you? Got a self cleaning oven? That’ll clean it. Then season with lard and blacken your fish. Also, you don’t have to dedicate a skillet to fish.

Appreciate it. I was just curious as it says it reaches 400 degrees.

I like a dedicated fish skillet because I've had a fish flavor work it's way into a few other things before.

If your skillet is picking up fish flavor, it may be that it is not seasoned properly. It shouldn’t do that.
