First off I LOVE Top water fishing, but I have never tried fishing with any FROG lures.I'm looking for ya'lls recommendations and tips on brands, sizes, and colors.Any help will be greatly appreciated.I'm retired and fish strictly for the fun and pleasure of it.Nothing like seeing a Largemouth Bass explode on a top water lure! Thank You in advance for your time and help!

Booyah Popping Pad Crasher or Live Target. I've always thrown the larger size but sometimes those big bass want something small.

I've used the H2O Express frogs from Academy. They're cheaper than a bunch of the other brands and have worked well for me (they're basically copies). Some of the frogs are like 10 bucks a piece and I just can't bring myself to pay that much for them when there's the H2O ones for $4 in the same colors.

There are several good threads on TFF in the past. You might try searching to see if you can dig some up. For hollow body frogs, I like the Booyah Pad Crasher. It a quality frog but less expensive than others. Softer body, good hook up ratio and doesn't fill up with water. I like the Spo Poppin Frog. However, it's a little firmer plastic. Needs to set out in the sun to soften up. But, it's still one of my favorites. Get a dark color and a light color. Be sure to throw it on a MH to heavy action rod. Braided line is a must due fishing around vegetation and the no stretch helps on the hook set.

I also will bend my hooks up just to get them off the body, hook up will improve 99%!!

Everybody has a personal favorite. Just buy a couple of different brands and see what you like.

Hollow bodies are great, but sometimes a screw locked horny toad will get just as big a reaction strike.

You can get by with any of the ones mentioned, I have them all but I like to spend a little bit more and buy spro. You’re throwing braid and shouldn’t break off and I just feel like it’s a better frog. Worth the extra 3 bucks to me.

Booyah and Spro are both good. Popping frogs are good in more open water areas or very light vegetation areas. Regular frogs with the pointed nose that don't pop are great for flipping into reed pockets and other areas of heavier vegetation. They come through the come much easier than the popping frogs. As for color, brown is my favorite, just a confidence thing. Brown, white, yellow, all good colors to have and they all get bit. If you're going to have one frog rod make sure it's a heavy power so that all your bases are covered in the event you're in thick grass or something. Have fun!

If you can't find em wind em.

Starting out, I'd get Academy Sports H20xpress and Booyah popping frogs.
Both of these are cost effective and have decent hooks.
Popping frogs are very versatile and easier to walk (don't have to pop them, and a lot of the time the bass don't want it popping)

Get a smaller sized white one for the shad spawn immediately, today if possible (what I throw when the shad move shallow--what they are doing now)
Then pick up a larger sized black one for low light conditions and when the sun is directly overhead
And a bigger green/chartreuse one (which is what I usually throw from post bass spawn to November)

I have used Stanley Ribbit Frogs for years with success but just recently started using the Stanley Top Toad. It is a Hollow body frog bait but with the same legs as the Ribbit with all of that action. I am hooked on that bait now. Was throwing one last weekend and within 5 casts had a nice 3 lber crush it. There are a ton of videos out there with great info and even though some people might not consider it necessarily a frog bait you should check out the Strike King Poppin Perch and look up Todd Castledine videos of him slaying the fish on that topwater .
