Too many people on Conroe. That being said, there are some good fish there. But the lake is super low and makes launching and navigation in some areas an interesting challenge. We hit it yesterday. I blanked, although I lost two good ones. The old man boated two bass, a 6 1/2 and a 4 1/2. Nice fat fish. All action on jigs.

Dang, dude. Any lake you haven;t fished recently?..........lol. "Too many people on Conroe."...........Which, besides the grass carp killing the fishing, has been the problem on Conroe for the last 35 years or so.

Well Tom, my father is 71 years old. That extra 1.5 feet down from the dock to boat is super low for him.

Big C, the only ones we didn’t hit on our potential list were Rayburn and Fayette. It was a fun week.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be too many people.
I went last Saturday and there was not a lot for February.

The shallows were loaded with males but did not see a single large fish.

Hit Conroe at Cagle a couple days ago. Stayed mostly around the brush just outside the ramp. I had a 3.5 blow up on me and almost didnt get the damn thing in the boat. Other than my buddy losing a couple fighters half way to the boat nothing else worth reporting. That spot used to be fairly consistent for me but now it seems as though those particular fish are getting smarter from being in the area so close to the dock out there just from people fishing from shore. It was my first time out in a while but Ive noticed a steady decline in my bag coming out of there of late. Just posting to see if anyone has similar experience.

A buddy and I spontaneously hit Conroe yesterday (Wednesday) after hearing late Tuesday night that Fayette had closed.

We had heard bass were in all phases of the spawn so we tried several different spots. Mostly on the northern half of the lake: fished shallows area in the morning near Walden Marina and Palms Marina and fished deep spots in the afternoon near Hunters Point. We graphed several fish at the Lewis Creek bridge and on brush piles near Hunters Point but we never got them figured out. Ended up taking the smell of skunk home with us.

We fished from 8 am to 2 pm. Water temps were from 72-75 degrees. Water clarity 2-3 feet.

We did notice a lot of shad busting the top in just about every shallow spot we went to. We saw many of them them floating injured at the top of the surface as well.

Curious if anyone else has fished there in the last couple days? How were you able to be successful?

Fayette's open. Fayette's closed. Fayette's open. Fayette's closed. I heard only Oak Thicket was closed and Park Prairie was open. What's the story today?

Those are absolutely Conroe bass. It makes me happy to continue seeing these quality fish come out of Lake Conroe. Over the years, Conroe has broken my heart many times, but occasionally, I leave feeling good.
