Is it possible to do this? My boat is paid for and I really want a bigger trolling motor and at least one powerpole Because I am tired of not being able to fish certain days because of wind. but being the average working class man I am I can't shell out a few grand at once. It just amazes me how these small Luxories in fishing cost and arm and a leg

Options:
1. Get a personal bank or credit union loan 2. Charge on Credit Card that has zero balance and make monthly payments 3. Add up the cost of what you want, divide by the months you want to pay for it and start making monthly payments to yourself, until you have the money you need to pay for it.
Above all depends on how soon and bad you want it.

Don't do it. Stay out of debt. If you really have to have it, figure out (as Champion Don stated) how much you want to spend, how many months it would take to pay for it, and put that amount away every month until you have the cash to pay for it. Yeah, I'm an old. I don't believe in going in debt but that's me. I paid cash for it new and kept my 97 Champion 21 years until I could pay cash for a new one with all the bells and whistles I wanted. Gonna be a few folks say I'm nuts, but instant gratification, especially if you're tight on your money anyway, can put you in a bad spot.

I personally would never finance such things but that’s just me. I save up and pay cash for toys.

I would say this is decent advice IF you want/need them right now and are going to finance them. Also if you're on a budget I would most certainly buy used. That's how I got both of my poles and graphs. Keep an eye out and you can get a deal.

Another option is remanufactured offered by some companies. Lowrance and MotorGuide are a couple that seems to always have a decent selection 40-50% retail with a warranty.

0 percent interest credit card if you’re going to be disciplined to pay it off before interest kicks in.

0 percent interest credit card if you’re going to be disciplined to pay it off before interest kicks in. +1. With good credit and a little discipline, there are definitely ways to get "instant gratification" without paying a dime more than the fella saving and waiting months/years to get it.

Bank wouldn't take the graphs and poles as collateral most likely. Could go unsecured, but the rate will get you pretty good. If you're ever going to get into debt, try to get your money to work for you not against you. 0% cards for 6 months is a good option as said above. I could have paid cash for my TM, but charged it to the card and got my flight miles, paid it off the next day.
Or, could open up a C.D. and take out a loan against that too. I've done both. But I'm also a younger guy, so I'm trying to establish as much credit as I can as early as I can.

0 percent interest credit card if you’re going to be disciplined to pay it off before interest kicks in. I bought a boat this way years ago. Paid it off in the promotional period too and didnt pay a dime in interest.
