What does this do for fishing on the lakes? I fish Granger, which is a Corps lake. Are ramps still open?

State Parks have nothing to do with the Army Corp. Of Engineer lakes or parks. One is governed by State the other Federal! thumb

Side Note: You might check with the park where you are going to fish. A lot of Corp. parks and ramps are closed! nuts

This is a dangerous precedent in that other government agencies could close their ramps too. It was Governor Abbott's call. You can reach him at https://gov.texas.gov/contact

A lot of state parks have a manned entry booth. The majority of people working the booths are older or retirement age. Having to have close contact to pay and fill out info puts them at a greater risk. Communal bathrooms and people not following social distancing also messed it up. A lot of the city operated boat ramps have gone to electronic pay stations and some of those are still open if they aren’t flooded. I been at the lake a lot lately and I don’t see a single boat fisherman breaking the rules over the last few weeks. I did see a ton of ski boats around little elm yesterday that were loaded with young folk partying it up so they will probably jack around and get that ramp shut down too.

Texas State Parks when to online entry a couple of weeks ago....but in reality they could just open the gates if they wanted to and block off the camping and day use areas. The park employees are still getting paid so the issue of trash and items like that should not be an issue. They even have ramps outside the parks that are ran by the TPWD that are closed. The real reason why they closed the parks is they didn't want people coming in on Easter and having huge parties. Probably a simple weekend closure would have surficed.

That only works if people follow the rules Brian. Unfortunately a lot of people don’t and somebody has to enforce those rules in the park. It’s easier for them to shut em all down then to have to try and police so many rule breakers. They removed the basketball rims from the city park because people couldn’t follow a simple rule. Same goes for state parks...couple of good days of weather and I saw plenty of people breaking the social distancing rule. If you do that in a city park expect to get a citation. The state tried to keep em open but people messed that up. I think this all sux too amigo but I’m not taking 6 buddies out on my boat like I see ski boats doing or having some big camping cookout with 2 other families all in close proximity. I’m sure that Easter coming up had a lot to do with it as well and that made their decision that much easier.
