Ironic. Maybe only the healthy are going fishing.

Although there maybe justification to close a few of the more popular parks the decision to close every State Park in the state was unnecessary in my opinion. There are lots of parks with lots of space and very few people. The big concern I have is that this move will prompt other cities and government agencies in the state to close their parks and ramps. In a week's time we may not have any place to go fishing unless you are fortunate enough to have your own pond on your land.

I encourage each of you to reach out to Governor Abbott and ask him to reconsider his decision.

Probably would not hurt to reach out to him on Social Media as well.

It may have to do with not maintaining restrooms, trash service, etc.

But if that were true couldn’t they leave the boat ramps open and just close restrooms?

Lynn Creek Marina on Joe Pool is still open. I think that's the only open ramp on that lake at the moment.

There is no way they were gonna close the parks and just leave the ramps open. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt....for now. If numbers do not continue to support the closures then I will do my part to make my voice heard as well as cast my ballots appropriately. As we have always been told in life...actions have consequences. I hope its truly temporary and we move on soon.

stupid. on a boat with people you have been couped up in a house with for 3 weeks is worse ? They have said sunlight kills the virus much quicker. Is it really a threat?
I think this is getting ridiculous. I live at the beach and its nothing but bored retired women just carping about everything. Oh my god!! there are people walking on the beach!! why are they doing riskng everyones lives!!

Lots of ramps are not attended and seem to fair alright. Certainly the minority of TPWD ramps but there are few. There are tons of other ramps that are not attended.

Seems like the public restrooms at a campsite would be the most likely point to spread the virus. Okay, so just lock down the bathrooms and keep the park open right? Well now you have a hundred people a day peeing on the trees and s******g in the bushes.

Even that may not seem like a big deal, until you play the scenario out even further. By day 2 or 3, there are a bunch of unpleasant piles in the bushes. So you head out for your morning daily and you realize you can't get all the way into the bushes without soiling your flip flops. It won't take too long before you can't put your tent anywhere without setting it on something squishy.

Bottom line is that half-arse measures won't work. If you want to argue that there is no danger of spreading the virus at a park, then have at it. But once it has been decided there is a chance of spread there, you have to close it down totally for it to work.

Well since that unmanned boat ramp is so dangerous for everyone's lives, I guess we can all just go hang out in the flower department at Home Depot where we are safe.

Agreed 100%. Also we've seen what happens when you leave national parks open but unmanned. No trash pickup means jerkwads will just leave their trash anyway and it turns into a dump.

Privately owned places like Powell Park, Jackson Hill at Rayburn would be open, correct?

Or the liquor stores. Still wondering how that is essential but other jobs are not.
