Nice. Your pictures always make me a little jealous. Good work! Blame mother nature... she did all the work. So many beautiful places in east Texas. I think I paddled about 4 miles to get to the area around the duck blind. The further I paddled the more remote and the more beautiful it got. I don't fish frogs but this is the best looking area I've ever seen for that type of fishing. Lots of unproductive water but when you found one fish you found several. With water levels so high the fish seemed to prefer the grass right up against the bushes. I've been throwing a little Lake Fork Shad on a 3/0 Owner Flashy Swimmer and that is pretty much the only thing working week end and week out for me. Haven't gotten a bite on any kind of spinner bait and very few bites on my favorite 5 inch hollow bellies on 5/0 flashy swimmer. I tried different colors of the 3 inch Lake Fork Shad and they all worked equally well. I tried the larger 5 inch shad in same colors... and nothing. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Lake_Fork_Live_Magic_Shad_Swimbait/descpage-LFLMS.htmlHighly recommend giving these things a try as I've recently become a big fan of them. I don't throw them weightless as I like them to quickly drop down into the grass and crud that is so thick this time of year. These baits are built to last too. You can usually catch a bunch on each bait before having to switch to a new one. White, Albino, and watermelon red all were working yesterday. Here is a map of the area I was fishing. Thanks for the detailed report Iconn. If everything goes as planned, I plan to hit Ray Roberts tomorrow. I was thinking swimbait, jerkbait and chatterbait given the time of year and water conditions... I'll take your advice and size down to a smaller bait and stick tight to vegetation.
I have a bag of swimbaits that look similar to the Lake Fork Shad. I'll start there! If that doesn't produce, I have a couple small (4") jerkbaits that will make some noise. If that doesn't work, I throw on the trusty Senko. Whatever the case, I will simply enjoy getting out of the house!
Thanks again.

Great photos You seeing early shad spawn there at Palestine? Haven't seen many shad shallow at all. See a few flipping around and getting blasted in deeper water near creek channels.
