I have mother-in-law's tongue , aloe vera , spider (airplane?) plants and Boston ferns that need dividing this year .

Any tips would be appreciated .

Take root ball out of the pot and try to separate into sections without tearing many of the little roots. Repot in larger pot with good potting soil like Miracle Grow.

I've had success with all the above except Boston fern. I have had success with Asparagus fern.

You can also cut the airplane off an airplane plant, put it in a glass of water and it will sprout roots.
