Going into the end of last year I had never caught a public water DD. I had been following threads in this forum talking about which lake had the best potential to produce a new state record. There was one lake in particular that stuck out to me. I had never fished it, but it seemed mighty interesting. I did a search for that lake on this forum and I came across a member who seemed to know the lake well and had caught several very big fish out of it. As a long shot I sent him a PM and asked if he ever had an open seat if we would consider letting me join. I figured the worst that could happen is he might say "no". Instead he said, "Sure, how about this Saturday?"

So on December 7th 2019 I drove 3 hours to go fish a lake I had never been on with a guy I had never met. The guy wound up being far nicer than I could have ever hoped for. An excellent fisherman and he had no problem educating me as much as he could about the lake he loved so much. I'll never forget that trip as I caught my first public water DD out of the back of his boat that day.

Anyway, talk about the power of this fishing forum and the power of kindness. I hope I can repay the favor someday to some other angler!

Good looking fish and congrats on the PB DD- what did it weigh? My guess is Naconiche if there's a prize.

For 2 years we really caught some big ones, man we need some low water again! LOL

That was a heck of day. I think we had 4 fish between 4-6 pounds and your 10+, we had 10-12 more that were 3+ pounds, that was a fun day!!

I just found the pic of my scale that day and this was our total, heck our other 4 weighed almost 23 pounds, I believe your big one was 10.21!

I caught my 13.6 out of the back of friend's boat in 2010

So what you're saying is...... You learned a little bit about trophy bass when doing the research for your books?

Great news and great story.

Congrats!

Great fish. Thanks for sharing. Can you tell us what bait she bit?
