I figured this fish is a drum based on my limited knowledge. It was around 5 or 6 pounds.

How does that rank as far as drum in a pond? Pond is about 1/2 acre.

Nice fish! That's definitely a Freshwater Drum, they can fight pretty hard and are one of my favorite species to catch outside of Carp and Buffalo. I've only ever caught one Drum from a pond and it was 8lbs so idk how it'd stack up compared to normal. Looks like a good one though! cheers

Catch and release. The dream - to catch one of every species of Freshwater fish in our great state! If only I can resist Carp...

Definitely a freshwater drum (Aplodinotus grunniens). That is a big one for a half-acre pond. The state record is 44 pounds.
