Ran into Serj out there today. Ended up forgetting my frozen shad at home and didn't bring the cast net along. Serj was kind enough to gift me a couple of fresh ones from his boat that morning.

I stayed out until just after lunch. Marked quite a few fish on the northern point that leads into narrow lake Park. Didn't get anything to bite there. Ended up moving south of the bridge and fished the two underwater points on the east side. I caught one 3lb blue in 27' and marked a few more fish over there. Shortly after that the bass boats showed up in droves and I felt like I was going to be run over so I called it a day.

Overall lots of paddling, with not much reward. Still beats sitting at home fish

Here is where I marked and caught fish when I fished up there a week ago. The circle to the north was my best spot. I tied up to those cypress trees. [Linked Image]

There is a fine line between fishing and floating around like an idiot!!

Awesome thanks. That furthest north point is a little too far for me to paddle from Little elm ramp. Of course that was your best spot haha

I marked a ton of fish along that point in green and caught the one blue in 27' off the point in purple. Looks like we saw them not too far from each other. Still new to using the sonar so I can't quite distinguish from cats or other species, but I was able to see plenty of arches in both spots.

I tried a santee rig at that narrow creek point, but I figured out later that my lead was sinking to the bottom, but the bait was sitting right near the surface lol. Drifted over a ton of fish I was marking over there before I realized it. After that I just ran a Carolina rig suspended about 2' off the bottom.

What's y'all's preferred method to fish deeper (20' +) water?

TIA

Dang it I knew I should have tied up to those cypress trees LOL hammer.... Ok here is how I did, I drifted at the beginning of the Southern Circle all the way down near the boat ramp... Marked a ton of fish that I drifted over and had not one single bite with fresh shad mad... Anchored directly across the northern red circle and caught a nice 3 to 4 pounder and a 2 pounder also a nice Sand Bass and that was pretty much it nuts... Marked a lot of crappie hugged up on the Timber because of all the Gar that was swimming around... Tried different color Jigs and also live minnows and not one single bite bang... I talked to a couple of people at the ramp when I got back and they did pretty bad as well so I do not feel as bad LOL... it was still a beautiful day and it was great to meet you Rippyro grin

Will post my video here when I'm done with it.

Thanks again Serj! That shad kept the skunk away lol it's funny you mentioned being worried about boat traffic with the fog, but south of the bridge it got worse as the fog burned off. Ha

Makes me feel better knowing no one else had much luck. Sure wish everyone was having luck but that's fishing I guess. At least I know it wasn't something I was (or wasn't) doing.
