your right but the large mouth came back and the smallie's did not hence they will not because they don't want to waste resources if they have anothe algae bloom. You can catch a few smallie's in Whitney but the largemouth are doing great

I think, because smallmouth are more susceptible to the algae problem, TPWD has given up stocking smallies in the Brazos River lakes.

Yep they won't stock em on Whitney anymore, very small population in there compared to how it used to be 25 years ago, it used to be the trophy smallmouth lake of texas. I think they would have done well in there the last 10 years, hasn't been any big algae kills in long time.

Ray Roberts is not a Brazos river lake. The golden algae issue has not stopped the TDWD from stocking millions of stripers in Brazos river lakes anyway . Talk about rolling the dice (with our $). As far as walleye and muskie. Those fish are obviously more affected by our warmer waters. Smallmouth have already shown they can survive our summers. I just think it would really be cool if I could go to Ray Bob and say" Okay today I'm going to target smallies". I can do this on Texoma. I also wish that some of the tournament directors would throw in a "Largest smallmouth prize :in some of their events to raise interest even more

You can call and ask TPWD why the won't stock them, they claim it will hurt the Largemouth population

I think it would be a excellent addition to stock them.

Overall, l think the TPWD does an amazing job. With that being said, they have done a VERY poor job of stocking LMB in Ray Roberts. Its a stretch to think they would stock smallmouth. Plus, they are pissed that so many were transplanted from Texoma. I'd love to see them prove me wrong though...
