My neighbor sews baby blankets and quilts.

She is making a couple for us.

I’m not wearing a mask. You’re supposed to be staying home to begin with, what do you need a mask for?

Unless you're totally self-sufficient you can wear them to the grocery store, drug store, etc. to buy essential items for you and your family. You will need to get out for something every now and then.

Family is everything!

Life is precious. We don’t have forever. We have now. This moment. We can choose to love our lives now.

My first go at a self-made mask:

I much prefer hop's punkin-head version.

I see a lot of people wearing masks, but no eye protection. Wearing only a mask is useless according to our county's emergency management team.

call it what you will...he is not definitely not anywhere near the top of the list for QB's that I would choose needing a FG or touchdown drive late in the game.

So, in that manner, there is a lot less of the virus in the air to begin with. What does get out may not go as far. Add that to the fact that you keep your distance, and roll the dice. The odds of getting enough viral dosage to infect you has been impacted quite a bit by this action. Most of it never has a chance to get to you. If any gets on your skin or clothing, it's probably a lot less than would have if that sneeze wasn't behind the mask on the other person.

Now, reverse the scenario. A highly infected person coughs and sends a large volume of particles your way. Some of them hit your face. You're wearing a mask, so it gets contaminated on the outside, and not all of your face is covered so some particles land on your skin. A small number of particles may actually make it through the mask. Even at this point, you may not actually inhale any of the few particles that get through the mask. Again, way better than nothing. But....eventually you handle the mask to take it off. You must take great care doing this to keep from getting infected at this time by your own doing. You must also insure that you get your face cleaned without getting any virus into your mouth or nose. You might even touch a glob of sneeze with virus sitting on your shirt, then touch your nose or mouth. The risks abound because you can't tell where all the contaminants are. The other person spewed it all over you. This is very unlike the first case where the spewing was greatly curtailed at square one, before it ever had a chance to head toward you.

Both wearing a mask is the best from an odds perspective, but if only ONE mask were available, greatest good is derived from having the infected person wear the mask.

Sounds to me like you know what you are talking about. Sounds like we are shooting a bb gun at a rhinocerous. The home made cloth ones need to be washed after each use. You risk touching the outside of the mask to remove it if you don't have gloves. Seems logical that distance is the best precaution. I cannot find gloves or even the surgical disposable masks online anywhere that are made in the USA. People are complaining the masks made in china, the birthplace of this friggin plague they perpetrated upon us, are being delivered in unsterile packaging and boxes. You can't find any blue nitrile exam gloves anywhere. It is a ridiculous situation. I went to Walmart yesterday for milk and bread and walked through of sea of latex gloves in the parking lot. Miscreants. I swear.
