I could not find an old Richardson topic, so let's start a new one.

I went to a nice stream around lunch, but the light rain, wind and temps kicked up.
I felt the cold come in fast!

I had no luck, but I'll give it another go soon enough, along with some other spots from the topic listing. The lures were catching way too much moss.

This spot is just north of Belt Line/Jupiter in Richardson.

Addendum: I was just checking the oil in my truck before I left. IN65/joe

Ahh. Duck Creek. You're posting a pic of the best bass fishing section on Duck Creek in Richardson. Upstream much and there isn't much. I live upstream just a little. You should be able to see the beds once the wind dies down. If you stand on that bridge in the picture and look down, you'll see beds with fish on them. Pretty cool.

As stated, the moss/algae was killing me, but cold wind didn't help.

I got up early and went back to the same spot on Friday.

In two hours I only saw two bass, and one kept swimming right in front of me. He was not scared.

Nothing I threw at it worked. He would not bite!

I'll give a go another time.

I then headed to Oak Point.

Thanks for starting this thread! Moved into the area last summer and would walk along Duck Creek on occasion. Never saw bass but did see plenty of bluegill. Havenโ€™t seen any yet this year.

Actually caught a 3 pound bass today on the creek. Last week had him on the line and lost him just feet from shore. Came back this evening to the same spot and nailed him on the third cast. Not expecting bass like him to be the norm but it made for a nice surprise! [Linked Image]

Given I donโ€™t expect much else in Duck Creek, looking to expand my fishing range in the area. Thinking about scoping out Spring Creek Forest Preserve and Breckinridge Park as potential fishing spots.

I guess I forgot to comment on Oak Point, you know, the big pond where just about everyone chokes.

I fished there for about 40 minutes, and it was very windy and sunny, around 10:45 am or so.

It was Friday, 4-10-2020.

I finally caught one, and it was such a relief. Nothing big, but I got one.

I had not fished there in several years, but I never caught anything, until that Friday.

There were witnesses!!

...!

I just discovered Shawnee Park/pond yesterday. I didn't know about it, but drove by.

Reviews on Shawnee? I haven't tried it yet.

I have fished it for a few years. In my experience, it is not a great place but there are fish there. They have been doing a lot of work on it in the past year and I am not sure if they drained it or not. Assuming there are still fish in there, I have caught small bass and sunfish on my fly rod: baitfish streamers for the bass and nymphs under indicators for the sunfish. I have also heard from people there are carp in there and while there probably are, I have never seen them.

Duck creek gets a ton of pressure...BUT....weightless flukes and senkos are the best bait for that lil creek. I've caught fish up to 5lbs in there. in the summer times the fish stack up under the lil water falls
