Fished Rayburn yesterday while social distancing. Pretty day on the water but definitely not the 3-5mph winds they called for. (1-2ft waves coming straight down the lake)
We caught fish pretty much everywhere we fished, on creature baits in post spawn areas mostly. We ended up with about 20 fish. My fishing partner lost a fish at the boat that went about 7 that came off a bed and wrapped him up.
We saw about 10-12 bald eagles yesterday. Love that they're making such a spectacular comeback. No photos...just enjoyed fishing and relieving some stress. Fished north of the 147 bridge.

Sounds like a great trip!! I enjoy seeing all the wildlife too.

Wind "forecasts" just p*** me off while on the water! Aren't EVER even close to it. And Rayburn is big enough that doesn't take much to get it rolling.

I fished Sam yesterday for the first time. I put in at Ayish Bayou (due to it being the closest ramp), probably a big mistake. I didn’t venture far due to me not knowing the lake and the winds. I only caught 3 all day. I need one of you seasoned gentleman to give me some pointers. It really is a beautiful lake. I expected to see more boats but maybe I was in a bad location. Glad you did well!

Ayish bayou ramp is the closest to Conroe? There are a whole lot closer than that. Launch at Monterrey next time and just fish. They are chomping right now around the brush. Eating moving baits, chasing shad.

Todd, if you have some free time you should check out Ken Smith’s videos on navigating Rayburn. I think he gives a lot of good info regarding underwater hazards, ramp access, and general features of different areas of the lake. I found them very helpful. The older playlist is a little grainy but you can hear him well enough, and if you have a map open at the same time it’s pretty easy to follow. He did a few updates videos that are more recent. He also does periodic fishing reports that are very detailed.

1 to 2 foot waves? Maybe in the back of a cove lol. I was there all day and it was 4 to 5 footers mid lake and the wind was blowing like crazy. Caught a tagged fish but I wasn't signed up for the contest so no money for me bang

Drew, thank you very much! I will do as I’m hoping to fish it more. I love Fayette but anyone can catch a fish out of there. I remind myself of that every time I head somewhere else.
