Lies everywhere on that article. "improved water quality and more room for game fish" both are lies. You have to understand, "Carp Solutions" is a business. They want to sell their product, removal of Carp. Carp have a negligible effect on water quality and removing Carp does NOT make more "room" for Game Fish. Carp fill a certain niche and popular Game Fish like Bass fill a different niche. In fact, Carp being present in a body of water actually increases the survival rate of Bass.

I have no dog in this fight, and I am certainly not a bass only guy...but please explain. In fact, Carp being present in a body of water actually increases the survival rate of Bass.

I have no dog in this fight, and I am certainly not a bass only guy...but please explain. In fact, Carp being present in a body of water actually increases the survival rate of Bass. "Do carp eat bass eggs? Wolfe et al. (2009) conducted an experiment in which Largemouth Bass were stocked into a controlled environment, both with and without Common Carp. The results showed that juvenile bass stocked into enclosures containing common carp survived at a higher rate than bass that were stocked without Common Carp. The experiment was then repeated with older juvenile bass and the results were the same. The bass had a higher survivability in the presence of Common Carp. The study also found that during the experiment, Common Carp were observed feeding in the clay bottomed enclosures but egg predation on largemouth bass eggs appeared to be minimal or absent, perhaps as a result of male bass guarding the nests. Male bass also fan the nest with their tails to prevent the accumulation of silt over the eggs (Wolfe et al. 2009). These findings indicate that Largemouth Bass can successfully spawn with Common Carp with little or no negative effects. The findings also indicate that carp pose little or no risk to the survivability of largemouth bass young. Clearly, the entities willing to pay out large sums of cash to manage these carp disagree with you TxMulti…..

Again, clearly they disagree and it’s their money to invest as they see fit. Same in Australia, where they are spending $15M to eradicate carp with a strain of herpes. I’d venture a guess and say they have biologists and researchers involved and felt it warranted that kind of money being spent..... Don’t get me wrong, I’d never want carp eradicated. What would I shoot off my rig then?! But when people are spending that much coin to manage or completely eradicate a species they are obviously a nuisance.

The biggest scam of all is that they'll never eradicate the Common Carp. Wherever they are, they're there to stay. The "Carp Solutions" only get about 8% of the estimated population, and even the virus (if they even go with that crazy idea) is projected to only kill a bit more than half of the Carp.

Half the carp in most Texas lakes would make a HUGE impact. But for the record, I’m not in favor that virus idea. Seems like it could definitely blow up in their faces. My point is they definitely want the carp gone to lay out that much capital.

Right after a rain on the left - rain stirring up sediment making the water cloudier. A few days after the water settles on the right. Just look at the water levels. Looks like they used a better camera on the right as well

When I’m bowfishing, you can always tell an area that has carp due to the water clarity. It’ll be stirred up when they’re present. I can show you in person if you ever truly want to see it. They are hard to shoot due to this. You have to get shallow or find water with some rock or plant growth to help keep the mud down to be successful.
