Variant of a pattern used on bass during the spawn. This one uses a bent 2/0 hook, one pink marabou plume, two olive marabou plumes, red dumbell eyes, and pink dacron tying thread.

It's fished by dragging it slowly across a Bass bed, stopping and shaking to coax a strike, and setting the hook soon as the pink plume disappears... meaning the bass has taken the fly!

PS: Made a modification to it by adding 2-3 pnk marabou plumes to the hook bend to make it ride with its hook bend up while resting on the bottom of a bass bed! It's called the BOBTAIL Fly!

Has worked well on a couple of trips so far...!

So what you got there is a marabou clouser on a bent shank. Have you tried the new Umpqua bend-back hooks; might be just the ticket.

Cool... have not tried the bent-back.

Tied another variant of the BOBTAIL Fly... this one is different, no dumbbell eyes, and only marabou plumes on the hook bend, and then saddle hackle for the body. More to come... Bass were cruising instead of on their beds Saturday. Caught one one a Grasshopper and lost one bringing it in as well. Nice day with lots of social distancing room!

Not sure what to call this one yet... may stick with "No Name Fly". Another simple tie and no bending hooks.

Great idea for both. Bass are spawning in local ponds and not interested in clousers, jerk fly, poppers. I've been thinking about what else to try to get those shallow fish to bite. Thanks for the tips.

Thanks PerksOutdoors! Hope they work in your area. Tried "testing" it yesterday at the local pond. Bass were out cruising the shallows instead of on their beds. Was able to catch one and lose one using a Foam Grasshopper. Will try another "test" sooner than later I hope.
