Got out late this morning and fished with my 4 yr old fishin partner..bait was easy in 17 ft. I wasn’t expecting much with high winds and rollers due to the fact that Im limited to fishing protected water when my son is with me in high wind. We made a 2 mile run across the rollers in the most open part of the lake but my rig took it well.. Got to our protected water and I wasn’t expecting to see much but boy was I wrong. The gizzard Shad, Sandbass, and hybrids were stacked in 27-32 ft in an area I would have never checked had I not had my son with me. I knew right when I saw all those fish we were in the right area. Sometimes it’s the angler and sometimes it’s pure luck. Today we had luck on our side. Fist fish in the boat was 13. Then a 17, 20, 10. Then 6 eaters. Pulled the socks and moved over 75 yrds and drug em again. Boom 26 lbr and my sons new PB. We ended up catching another 24 and a 14 and about 15 more eaters. We had a great day! Best day of fishing in April I’ve ever had on Lewisville. All fish CPRed to fight another day...

Awesome job Jax. I bet you were tired after showing your dad how to fish. Haha. The wind was blowing harder than than my app showed for sure. I went out yesterday also by myself and it was a pain to launch in that wind but I got it done. Graphed depths from 26’-6’ and couldn’t find anything of decent size. Ended up fishing shallow and caught 31 box fish. On the way back in I found a nice group of bigger fish not far from the ramp but I had already dumped my bait and momma was expecting me home.

Thanks amigos! Jax was smoked after his big fish Matt. We left em biting. Something strange was going on with the bite yesterday. We missed a couple of fish and when reeling in I noticed there were bluecats chasing the bait all the way back to the boat like bass will do. This happened multiple times and I even saw 2 cats chasing one of our baits. We caught one of our bigger fish 10 seconds after I clipped on a board. It was before we were pulling the board so I know the bait had probably floated way up off the bottom. Then we caught an eater an a bigger bait and he let go of it about 10 ft from the boat. As I watched the bait start to fall I noticed something crush the bait on the way down. It was a blue that weighed 14 lbs! We were in 30 ft and I was marking tons of cats suspended 15 ft off the bottom. It was strange to see blues chasing a bait your ripping across the surface.

Nice. I miss days like that when my son was that little.

The bites for me was really weird yesterday also. They would hit and immediately spit it out. Very few held on and took it down. Missed a bunch because by the time I got to the rod they were gone. Tried 2 rods with the clicker on hoping they would hold on longer and had 3 run about 20 feet with the bait and then drop it. I hate it when they don’t hold onto the bait long enough.

I made a terrible mistake yesterday and hopefully I learned my lesson. 2 days ago me and my son washed the boat, so I unloaded everything while we washed it. Once I got all my rods set out yesterday and waiting on bites, I decided to go ahead and tie up some leaders because I have been breaking off several each trip due to the areas I have been fishing. Went to get my tackle box and realized I never loaded it back into the boat. By the end of the day I was down to 4 rods out of 12

Yup Sir That has happened to me too ...Also with 12 rods..LOL!!..Finally I just made a big assortment of of different sized leaders and also those 3 oz bb paracord weights...Now if I could just get some time on the dang water...Jaxon you are definitely making me wanna take a bean bag out there then I would for sure miss fish haha!!!
