Fished the afternoon from 3:45-7:30. Fished one large cove in several different ways, different depths, different presentations. One bite, no hookups. Weather was great and wind was bearable. Water 64-67. Stained but not too dirty.

Disappointing, though this was only my second trip to Fork. I attached a picture of where I fished. Anybody else do any good?

This was my report yesterday.

Today was great again on numbers. So many 3lbers up dirt deep right now its crazy. When you get a bite or two slow down and pick those areas apart. They are stacked in some pockets. Still fishing midlake.

AlI l am going is targeting isolated clumps of saw grass on the inside of points and along the shoreline in any little pocket or cove. They are using it to spawn next too. Just pitching a Texas rig black/blue craw and letting it sit for a couple of seconds before I hit it again. A lot of the bites I do not feel, I just see my line move off. You gotta set the hook fast as well.

Nothing fancy, just covering water and being as thorough as I can.

Today was a lot tougher. Only bites I had were corners of shallow docks today. It will get really good again in a day or two. Hang in there.

Had 2 on 3 bits in 4 hours this AM. This makes me feel not quite as bad.

I was gonna hit Fork yesterday, but from every guide I talked to, it was wall to wall glass. Some even said that it was more boats than they have ever seen on the lake. So, I hit Palestine instead. Caught 15-20, but nothing of any size. It was nice to run the lake without having to keep your head on a swivel or somebody parked in the middle of the boat lane.

I had a brother fish there today he caught 12 crappie in the 1.5-2# range and 12 bass. He fished from about 11-4. He said about the same has Mark dirt on the belly behind grass. I think he told me 6#er was biggest.

Here are the pictures of the area that I fished. Has anybody else had any luck in this area? Or is it something I should avoid in the future? Sure looked good.

Yea I don’t really understand the people saying “the lake isn’t busy, there’s only one boat in mustang!” That’s simply not true and is misleading people that might drive two hours to fish. Lots of people don’t want to fish around that many people, ever.

I talked to a few guide buddies that commented on the heavy boat traffic and pressure. People parked on the grass at every public ramp on a Tuesday. That ain’t normal even for Fork.

Drew, That’s a fine area to fish. Haven’t been in there lately myself though. There are better areas right now but the fish are all over the lake, so fish where you want for the most part. If you go back out this week, send me a PM and I’ll point you to a few places and baits.

I was sitting right there in Little Mustang looking out my window when I posted the exact number of boats I saw...take it or not but insinutating someone is lying is a stretch. You also tried to say I must have been way up north catching what I caught.....I never ventured past Penson or very far past Caney. You cannot be on the whole lake at once and see every spot but Little Mustang had very few boats in it.....fished LM right after I posted that and had several bites including a good one....I fished 4 days out there mid lake mostly and other than Sunday I had no issues fishing where I wanted without being crowded. Sunday people were packed in 2 creeks I was gonna check so I went elsewhere...neverhad anyone get tooclose inthose days. Caught a ton of fish with some decent ones mixed in. Ramps were crowded but it was not anything like Skeeter Owners or Berkley. Past that not sure what to tell you except get away from Caney, Birch and Glade. Guess this week I will take a picture or two to show some of these areas. Its a shame when a guy tries to share some info to help others out have to be told they are lying. I posted an entire report that included area, bait, color and cover. None of that was misleading.

Mark, didn’t call you a liar. Likewise, you said the lake wasn’t crowded based on one view from your RV. Hardly an accurate portrayal and you commented after my opinion seemingly saying I was wrong. I’m here everyday.

I thought it was somewhat important to tell people what EVERY other person I’ve talked to has commented on, that there is heavy boat traffic on fork right now. You seemed to find one of a few areas with less traffic.

So I don’t think you were lying, but I do think you had the rose colored glasses on for some reason. As if telling people Fork isn’t crowded during a virus outbreak and heavy fishing pressure is somehow a good thing for the lake or people in general. Just weird man.

Congrats on catching some fish though! We always hear about it when you do! Lol.

You hear about it when I don't catch 'em as as well.....see my Sunday report on the Fork thread.......lol.

Like I said I moved around in that area of the lake and never felt too crowded. Sunday was a bit different. When I left yesterday there were not many boats on the water or in the parking lots. Might have been the rain. You can xall it weird in regards to my comments during this time. My intent was to help some people out if I could. I would prefer to have tge lake all to myself but that ain't realistic either. Hopefully people out there and on other lakes will get their minds off all this mess and catch a few. I'm gonna keep enjoying time on the water as safely and as often as allowed.

I'll respectfully stay in my own lane regarding crowds on Fork. Good fishing to you and hopefully things settle down soon.

tamudrew - I was there on Sunday. Saw some fish up there. Caught the meanest 16 incher I have ever encountered.

I saw a bass come barreling out of a little cut so I threw over into it and this mean azz fish slammed my craw but I missed
I threw back in and it hit again like a freight train. The miss's must have run off here beau and then assaulted my lure!

Good luck

Thanks for all the info, guys. I really appreciate the offer Criglizard! If I can find some time this weekend to get the boat wet, I will hit you up. Looks like rain AGAIN though.

Saturday evening I was coming back to my camper and there were 3 boats in the cove where my camper is. And it's not a very big cove. Sunday fished No Name in the AM, and this was the picture coming back out. 5 boats in that area is too tight for my blood.
