The revo is 5.4:1 while the bb1 is 5.1:1. I own and like lews reels but want what’s best for this application.
Is low gear ratio basically all that matters or are there other factors to consider?

Potato, pahtahto. I like the 5.1:1 ratio better than the 5.4:1,but that has been what I have throne for over 25 years. I just like it. The reel equivilancy is pretty close (inches per reel handle turn. I like both brands, so pick your favorite. If you are loking t NOT wear your fore arm and shoulder, they should both do that.
Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I have been using revo winches since the year they hit the market. I know they work so not going to change.

I have the BB1 and an impressed with it. It will sling a bait a mile (I have it on an 8-foot rod so that helps as well.)

Been using a Diawa Tatula 150 5:5 for big cranks for a year now and it has been so much easier on the old joints.
GOD is good!

Your choice is much easier if your a lefty. . . No doubt about that. Options are pretty limited. At one time lews made a left handed BB1 with a 5:1 ratio. I have one on my second deep crank setup. However, I catch way more fish on my main deep crank setup that has a BB1 with a 6:1 ratio. I much prefer the 6:1.

I had both at one time. Much preferred the Revo over the BB1. I would go with a Super Duty Wide Spool over the BB1 if you want a Lews.

I have both and like both, just different flavors. I think the Lews is a more durable product.

I have had better luck with Lews durability and have 8 or 9 of them, but could never get the brakes setup right on the BB1 I tried, ended up giving it to a friend. Like the Lews super dutys a lot. I have had one revo, broke, sent it to a reel repair guy, and it just broke again this weekend and threw it in the trash.
