Im going out to play with my HDS Live, and I am looking to find some BP’s. Problem is, when the view is out to 60-80’ not quite sure how pronounced they will show on SS. Does anyone have some screenshots to help me know what to look for? Thanks

Thanks. I have been watching the weather closely. I'm not worried about rain, but thunderstorms would keep me home. Wind is only 5 to 10.
I have also look in the pictures, but after sifting through many pages, most are of DI and not SS. I will keep looking through them.

To learn my graph, I spent time under the bridges. The reason to do that is you know what the columns look like so you will be able to know what you are looking at. In most lakes you will also be able to find tires and brush piles in these areas also to hone your skills. If you look closely, you can even see the images of 5 gallon buckets with bamboo in them. Once you are able to see those, a pass in likely crappie areas will reveal lots of brush piles and other objects on CC.

I set my side scan to 55' on both side. I have an 1199.Transducer is on the trolling motor and I troll at about 40%.
At 55' you can not only see the brush but the fish will show up as small white bars. Mark them with a gps and fish for a few minutes to see what size they are and move on to find snother one.

I was at the lake(CC) last weekend. Fished hard in the creeks up north - Gun Barrel City - to find a few fish. Caught a few shallow, a few under docks. But never more than 2 in one place. The water was very muddy and dirty. Got a ton of rain yesterday, that just made it worse.
I am like you, trying to learn to use electronics. I have a Lowrance Elite Ti 9". Struggling to get it dialed in. Need to do more youtube I guess... or really need to find someone that is good with Lowrance and have them teach me. I am much better with hands on.
Good luck with it, stay safe!

Learning how to use side scan or down imaging is really tough after a big rain with a lot of debris in the water. Everything looks like fish.
When the lake level is stable and most of the sediment has settled its allot easier to understand what your seeing.

Weather seems to be ok for now. 40% chance of rain and not showing thunderstorms. I plan to scan the north shoreline from the bridge about 1.5 miles from 8-15'. I may do the same on the south shoreline.
