WHY choose only 1 way? I have reels of other right ad left hand retrieves and they both work just fine. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I prefer right hand however.

I rarely use a spinning reel, but I have flipped the handle to the right side cause it's not natural for me to reel with my left hand.

I grew up using R hand retrieve and trained myself to use L hand several years ago. I fish all bottom contact lured Lhand, all moving Rhand. Helps the old shoulders to switch up.

Other than pitching or flipping, I don't see any advantage. On a normal cast my left hand is there waiting to switch with the right and it takes virtually no noticeable time for the reel to be switched. I'll never switch the way I was taught because I am just fun fishing and really not concerned about being super efficient.

I do many things right handed, many things left handed, and many things both ways; but I CANNOT reel with my left hand.

Right handed, all reels left handed. Baby jesus intended for it to be this way.

My son, who is right handed, got his first bait caster this year. He refused to consider anything that had a right hand crank. I have both. Learned on a left hand spinning reel and had to learn to use a "normal" bait caster. Now I don't think about it.
I really does amaze me they don't have all the reels in a right and left hand option. Like others have said. I almost always flip with a left hand reel. Just seems natural.

I was born left handed ( 61') , my father was an Aerospace Engineer and insisted that I should not be allowed to do anything left handed ( left handers might be at a disadvantage ) . Finally , at the age of 7 , I was allowed to do things in my natural hand . Luckily , I started fishing afterwards and ended up holding the rod in my left hand and reeling in with my right --- that always felt " normal " . My son , is right handed and he learned to do it exactly the same as me . When we see guys throw with one hand and switch hands to reel --- we both just look at them --kinda weird . x2 So maybe a few of us weird [lefty might change the o.p. mind LOL just my 2 cents . HAVE FUN & KEEP CHUNKIN.

I have recently bought my first left handed reel. Been using it for pitching. Feels great pitching but surprisingly a little awkward setting the hook with my right (strong) hand. My partner thinks Iām going to struggle reeling a bigger fish with my left hand, but I do it all the time with my upside down set ups.

When i switch hands, and reel with the other hand it feels like someone else is reeling for you! š³
