I purchased a used Lowrance HDS9 and the seller told me he left "some" co-ordinates left in it. Lots of them. Like 900! LOL. It's slowing down the unit and I don't want all that junk in there anyway. Most are waaaay out of my driving range of where I'll fish, but some are within 300 miles. How can you put in the co-ordinates and get a location so I'll at least know what lake they are for? I can dump the ones I want and keep the rest. Thanks!

Use GPSbabel and you can convert them from Lowrance to Google Maps and then save them on your desktop. After that open google maps and upload the file.

I did it long time ago but have since forgotten but found out how to do it on bass boat central website under the lowrance forums, I think you have to convert them to .gsx? files, there is free converter software out there you can download

1) Export all waypoints with USRv4 as backup.
2) Export all waypoints with GPX.
3) Open all waypoints in Google Earth using the GPX file and decide the waypoints you wish to keep on the unit.
Then:

Lowrance units can Export by Region using from what you observed in Google Earth. Export by Region will allow you to draw around all the waypoints you wish to save. You can only Export by Region to USR files(use USRv4).

And actually you don't need Google Earth, just zoom out an observe the waypoints , then start your export by region. You can do individual lakes or have your region cover multiple lakes.

All of the suggestions are correct. What I don't understand is how way points can slow your system down. That is very small amount of data.

Regurgitating what I heard. Even if it's incorrect I don't want to weed thru all those to get to mine.

Have any of you ever used easygps.com? I need something that is NOT computer nerd difficult so I can understand it. I don't even know what the heck a USRV4 or GPX is. Sorry, but it is what it is. OMS. Old man syndrome. Anyone on here want to give me a video phone tutorial?
