Wondering if you guys do anything special as far maintenance. My 12’ is quit till about 4’ down then all heck breaks loose. Almost like a squealing sound. It’s very loud!! Loud enough other boats hear it and look up like “wth” . Do y’all grease them or spray them with anything? If I can’t quiten it up some I’ll be switching this summer to dual blades

The metal plate on the end is probably loose. It’s just half [censored] riveted on.

Use a silicone spray on it, spray thru the top flush hole & from the bottom up. I get WD-40 silicone spray at Walmart, pretty cheap & a can last about a year.

Local service center tells me the biggest problem with talons is dirt buildup from not rinsing them. Recommends that you move to deep enough water, deploy them and idle around for a minute. This will wash off any mud/dirt buildup before putting on the trailer. I do this pretty regularly and seems to be working.

My 8' ones get a lot of mud on them and then it dries up inside. They will def make a racket when like that!! I deploy the pole down and then stick a garden hose up top where the flush hole is and spray til the water runs clean. Let it dry then spray the silicone/garage door spray stuff down the same hole and along the deployed part(not the stake but the metal). Haven't tried the idling thing but could work out well as I didn't attach the green wire (deployed down alarm) to my batteries.

Deploy in driveway and wash with soap and water. I then wipe on white lithium grease on everything that moves. All noises gone after that. This is assuming you have the tilt bracket. If not remove it from the mount and deploy it. Deploying in deep water will never clean it as well as a brush with soap.

Will give her a good washing and some grease

No more of a pain then having to constantly tighten bushings and change fluid on power poles. Preventive maintenance just comes with the territory.

I hate photobucket.
