My unemployment like everyone elses is very satisfying.
I wonder how many out there would say why work and take advantage of this?
The amount of your claim is like finding gold

Why work?

That is easy...

For men/women who are compelled to "earn their way in life," waking up daily and looking in the mirror to a person who is taking handouts is painful.

Luckily, I would assume the majority of fishing forum members would rather cut an arm off then live a life as a person "who takes handouts."

Addendum: A "helping hand" once in a while may be essential, but not the norm, at least not to the people I know, and to all my fishing forum buddies!

...peace to all, we'll get through this! IN65/joe

I once pulled a big nasty dog tick off the butt of my bird dog after a hard quail hunt one time.

call it what you will...he is not definitely not anywhere near the top of the list for QB's that I would choose needing a FG or touchdown drive late in the game.

I'm afraid you are confused about unemployment benefits and who receives them.
I have paid into the unemployment insurance program all of my working life.
Just like social security, when the time comes for me to draw it I will do so knowing I've paid my fair share into the system. Unlike social security, I hope I don't need to receive it for more than a few months.
With the increasing numbers of unemployed that might be wishful thinking.

Your employer paid into the Unemployment Fund at the State level.

Why not work? What else do I have to do? Can't drink all day, the bars and liquor stores are closed.

I'm not confused. I simply answered the question, and I addressed the "short-term need" in my addendum.

...have a great one!

Sorry if we disagree but I don't call unemployment benefits "handouts".

You could hope to get fired or volunteer to be laid off if the company is about to do it anyway but in Texas I believe its still in the rules that if you fired because you did something wrong you can't get unemployment.
If the new stimulus is handled as I have heard, some may be able to make as much under unemployment as they made while working. They may have changed it but I heard they would get an extra 600 per week for unemployment from the stimulus.

So really, getting unemployment is not much of a choice. At least its not supposed to be. I guess if fired you could look and not take a job because unemployment was higher than working. I couldn't under normal circumstances.

Because I couldn't look myself in the mirror if I was able to make my own way but chose to be lazy. Just not wired that way.

Mr. Icepick,
Perhaps it's the wording of the original post.
It's mixed "unemployment benefits" with "why work, therefore take advantage."

I agree, unemployment benefits aren't "handouts." We all pay into them and use them if necessary. It's our right.

The "take advantage instead of work" should probably pertain to "continued government assistance when not necessary."
