Mine's another wife who prefers her Sig P238over either her Ruger or Rossi 38 revolvers.

I didn't like mine and got rid of it. The only good thing about it is its size. It sucks to shoot. The P238 is WAY more comfortable to shoot but it's twice as expensive.

Mrs RayBob just got herself a Springfield Armory Hellcat. Bit bigger but goes into and out of her purse plus rides around inside pretty easily.

You have to clean it after every 20 shots or so. And it's very ammo specific. It does not like cheap rounds. I would not recommend.

I'm partial to the Bersa Thunder. its totally possible that you have had great experience with the bersa thunder, and everybody should carry with what they have confidence in. That being said, ive heard far more negative reviews for the bersa than positive. I own 2 LCPs. Mine is one of the earliest models, my wife's is from JUST before the lcp2 released. Both of ours very likely have over 500 rounds through them, and i cant recall a fail to eject or feed. both with fmj and jhp ammo. I pocket carried mine every day for 3 years, my wife's sits in the safe til her ltc comes in the mail. Im a big fan. the sights suck, and the trigger is worse, but even with that, at 7 yards, i can shoot about a 6" group, and can point shoot it very well from the draw. I would say you would be hardpressed to find a better pistol for under $200

The LCP is a great little gun to carry. Very easy to conceal in any number of places, either on the body or in a bag. But it is a pig to shoot.
I am of the opinion that one should not carry a personal defense weapon without first shooting a couple of hundred rounds with it at the range. You just need to develop some muscle memory with it before you plan for it to save your life. Then you need shoot a box of rounds at least once or twice a year after that. With that in mind, when you shoot a box with the LCP, you will feel it the next day. It is so light and the grip is so thin that the recoil hits like a hammer against the meat of your palm. It will almost leave a bruise. The wife won't shoot mine anymore. She'll bang the .357 mag, but not the .380 LCP.
It's not a fun gun to shoot. But I still carry it regularly because it conceals better than any other gun you can find. interesting. That has not been my experience at all, nor my wifes. I can even shoot it one handed with little issue

My wife has one, she keep in her purse with one in the pipe. With the heavy trigger pull she thinks is safe to carry hot. The clip comes out on her purse everynow and then, she's had it for quite a few years now. I need to work on it, I can probably fix that. For the money its a good gun for carry, good womens gun best I can tell.
I have a SW Bodygaurd like the one posted above. I do not carry with a bullet in the chamber eventhough it has a safety. The safety on mine is really stiff. My wifes tells me I might as not carry if I don't have one the chamber, but I can't make myself do it. I perfer the SW myself, but for my wife I think she is right and she perfers the Ruger. Thats a personal preference, but something i would seriously urge you to work on overcoming. If you watch enough surveilance videos of defense shooting you will find its pretty common that you need a less than 2 second "draw to first shot" to be successul. Thats basically impossible if you have to draw, and chamber a round. Not to mention you need the full use of both hands to be able to do that. A quality holster makes it impossible for a trigger to get pulled accidentally.

I’d say let her handle it and try test shooting one at a gun range before buying . If her hands are small it might be perfect but if she has large hands it might be hard for her to handle . The .380 is a nice carry piece and will stop anyone . Ruger has one of the best warranties as anyone else and CS is great if needed . Any gun will kill if you hit the right spots . Many ppl all over carry a .380 so don’t think it won’t do the job cause guarantee it will do all that’s needed !

I have an LCP. Great little carry gun, primarily because it is so easy to conceal.
Getting one for your wife? Unless she is an experienced shooter, and familiar with semi-automatics, I'd probably recommend against. Not exactly fun to shoot or accurate. Any semi-automatic is prone to occasional malfunction. Could she clear a stovepipe in a stressful situation?
Recommend you consider getting the wife a small revolver. Easy to conceal, decent sights (usually), and almost malfunction-proof.

Me and my wife both shoot ours well, and don’t have issues with the recoil or issues with hams and I shoot some fmj and defensive ammo through it every range trip. I haven’t cleaned it in 300-400 rounds either. Revolvers malfunction too, and if they do, they are usually going require a trip to a gunsmith.

call it what you will...he is not definitely not anywhere near the top of the list for QB's that I would choose needing a FG or touchdown drive late in the game.

They're reliable, but I recommend shooting one before buying it. I have a tendency to accidentally trip the mag release which would not be a good thing if I was trying to use it in a bad situation. Yeah same here. I wish the mag release button was reversible, but it is not.
